      • Secondary One Admission Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2020 ).The admission criteria and weightings for S.1 DP of SSPA 2020-21 have yet to be finalised. Please refer to the announcement of the school in January 2020.
      • Orientation Activities and Healthy Life The Orientation Day, Enforcement Chinese and English classes, English Bridging course, Parents Day, Moral and Discipline Training and Team Spirit Training for Form 1 students are held in August every year.

        • (1)School's Major Concerns 1. To enhance students’ confidence and learning effectiveness; 2. To enhance students’ sense of responsibility and self-management skills, by developing the talents given by God. 3. Educative-Pastoral Community foster the caring culture by implementing the Preventive System of Don Bosco.
        • (2) School Management Organisation: The Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) of Salesian English School has set up our vision and mission. The School Administration Committee plans the administration work. The School Affairs Committee, Academic Committee and Spiritual, Moral and Civic Education Committee supervise the planning and execution work of all subjects and teams. Our teachers work together with the parents to develop the Spiritual, Moral and Civic education, subjects development, extra-curricular activities and sports.
        • (3) Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee: The Incorporated Management Committee (IMC) of Salesian English School was formally established on 25 February 2014 aiming at enhancing the transparency of school management through the participation of various key stakeholders including teachers, parents and alumni.
        • (4) School Green Policy: Our school participates the Energy Saving Scheme of the Environment and Conservation Fund.
      • Learning and Teaching Plan
        • (1) Whole-school Language Policy: The school emphasises the development of bi-literacy and tri-lingualism of our students. Junior form students are grouped into streams according to their language ability. Maths is taught in English across the whole form, whereas some subjects (Integrated Science, Geography, Economics, Computer Literacy) are taught either in Chinese or English according to their language ability. The English panel offers a variety of language ability, such as prose-reading, speech, drama, debate and English speaking day, to enrich the language learning of students and prepare our students to learn in English. The English corner opens during lunch time and after school to provide interesting language activities with our NETs. Chinese and Putonghua panels also organise prose reading and debate competition. The school also organises the Language Fun Fair every year, to encourage students to use language in a interesting way.
        • (2) Learning and Teaching Strategies: Since 2013-2014, Liberal Studies was offered in junior forms, with the objectives to equip our students in personal growth and social awareness with appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude. The school offers a variety of elective subjects for students to choose according to their interests and ability. Some subjects are taught in split-class, which offer small-class learning and cater for our students.
        • (3) School-based Curriculum: 1. Electives: 2X and 3X. Students can select their electives combination according to their interests and ability. For details, please refer to the school website.2. Curriculum highlights: The school encourages cross-curricular cooperation among different subjects. Language Across Curriculum Team coordinates English panel with other panels to design some thematic learning modules. Chinese panel also designed school-based modules to help students in learning classic Chinese.
        • (4) Development of Key Tasks: The school emphasises our students to learning through reading. Reading Team organises Morning Reading Session, talks, book exhibitions, etc. to cultivate the students interesting in reading.
        • (5) Career and Life Planning: The Career Planning Team has been established to undertake the work concerned. The Team works together with the other subjects and Teams, Salesian Old Boys Association, and organizations of the community. The activities aim at widening the students' vision, planning their life and setting up their own objectives.
      • Student Support
        • (1) Whole School Approach to Cater for Student Diversity: Student Support Team (comprises of Programme Coordinator, Education Psychologist, Social worker and teachers) is set up to cater for the diversified learning needs of the students. Learning support Team is responsible for coordinating the remedial classes after school for those students in need. Summer bridging course is organised for those students promoting to S4 to adapt to using English as medium of instruction. The school sets up Gifted Education Team which aims to provide quality training for our gifted students.
        • (2) Whole School Approach to Integrated Education: The Student Support Team, comprised of SENCO, Student Counselor, Teaching assistants, teachers and social worker, which aims to provide learning supports to SEN students and to foster an inclusive learning environment which respect individual learning difference. With the use of Learning Support Grant, we provide specific training to SEN students such as, social skills training, speech therapy services, etc. In addition, we will provide community service activities or arts activities for students. Individual Education Plan will be provided for students who require coordinated supports among different stakeholders.
        • (3) Education Support for Non-Chinese Speaking(NCS) Students Our school provides additional support for NCS students to facilitate their learning of Chinese: The school will nominate NCS students to join the Student Support Programme organized by the EDB. The programme aims to provide students with a simpler Chinese programme and helps them prepare for the Chinese examination in the public exam.
        • (4) Measures to provide adaptation for Learning and Assessment: There are three examinations for each academic year. There are also formative assessment to evaluate the learning progress throughout the year. Special examination arrangement will be provided for students who have special education needs.
      • Home-school Co-operation and School Ethos
        • (1) Home-School Co-operation: Our Parent-Teacher Association organizes parent education activities, picnics, parents-child reading activities, computer training and students growth seminars. The Parent-Teacher Association also holds Parents Breakfast Meetings, and sponsors The Best Sportsman Award, The Highest Score Award of each subject and The Best Student Award.
        • (2) School Ethos: Our students should have moral integrity and pursue spiritual perfection, discipline, be determined to learn, willing to help others and keen on sports. Apart from pursuing academic excellence, we also aim at promoting holistic growth of students. With concerted effort and collaboration of our professional and experienced teaching staff, we devoted to providing a caring and supportive learning environment which enables our students to develop their potential to the full.
      • Future Development
        • (1) School Development Plan: 1. To enhance students’ confidence and learning effectiveness; 2.         • (2) Teacher Professional Training and Development: The Teacher Professional Training and Development Team sets up the development plans for the teachers and encourage them to be pro-active and life-long learning.
      • Life-wide Learning Activities including Five Essential Learning Experiences, Key Learning Areas, Extra-curricular Activities, Co-curricular Activities, etc. There are more than 40 clubs from different categories, namely, religious, service, music, sports and academics. Also, there are in-house and inter-school competitions for students to participate.
      • Others Our school has many scholarship for various academic, moral and sports performance. We participate in various inter-school and open competitions and has achieved lots of awards. There are also stipend and interest-free loan schemes for students who need to apply.

      • Remarks Our school follows the Voluntary Optimisation of Class Structure Scheme of the EDB. In the 2011-12 School Year, there are 4 Form 1 classes. In the 2012-13 School Year, there are 5 Form 1 classes. In the 2013-14 School Year, there are 4 Form 1 classes. In the 2014-15 School Year, there are 5 Form 1 classes. In the 2015-16 School Year, there are 4 Form 1 classes. Primary students with satisfactory academic and discipline performance will be promoted to the Secondary Section of our School.
